One thing I admit is not always a complete expert on all rules. Some writers/broadcasters/fans can recite every line and subtitle of every rule in the official NHL rulebook, but I’m too lazy. I mean, I can pass all the basic knowledge tests, but when you start to dabble in all the weeds, I will mentally check it out and let others check it out.

The NHL permanent offside rule is basically: your skates cannot enter the attacking zone before the puck. Before the challenge was replayed, the offside was under the close watch of the linesman and was either caught by them or not. But then the whole thing became like a Zapruder film, each pixel of each ice skate was analyzed for each ice cube, which annoyed most people.

Finally, throughout the summer, the NHL made it a more common-sense rule. Their main adjustment to the offside rules is: "If a player who actually controls the ball crosses the line before the ball, it should not be considered "offside", provided that he owns and controls the ball over the front of the blue line before skating."

This is why Andrei Brakowski of the Avalanche team last night was not asked to be offside and proved a very big goal against Ottawa. Devin Tois broke late in the second quarter. It was a 2-2 draw.

Under the old rules, Burke would definitely be sentenced to offside. This is how he entered the Ottawa area before Toews scored:

Blakowski's skates have clearly crossed the blue line, while ice hockey has not. That used to be offside. But because Burkey owns/controls the hockey puck, it is not anymore. The senators watched the replay and did not challenge it. This fooled many people, including me. I am easily confused, I am still not sure I can understand all the nuances of offside, but it is easy to understand.

In my opinion, this is a good rule adjustment. Especially when it applies to your team, right?

Notebook: Avs has an optional exercise today, and Bo Byram is wearing a non-contact jersey. However, Avs later stated that Byram would travel to Dallas with the team. It sounds like he is in daily mode in search of possible rewards. ...... The Avs scored a powerful goal for the fifth consecutive game, making 9 of 21 shots (42.8%), gaining the men's advantage through their five-game winning streak. ...When the first score was scored, Avs was 7-0-1. ... Nazem Kadri extended his consecutive scoring record to 9 games, tying his career record from November 6 to 24, 2017. Kadri scored 19 points (5g/14a) during this time, ranking fourth in the league in scoring 23... Kadri after the game last night: "It feels great. I mean, my teammates Well done. I’m throwing the ball, they’re scoring goals, so the goals are timely. Guys are opportunistic, so like I said, when I play with the people and we play with this When teams play together, it makes the game easier."

AD, as some people who expressed dissatisfaction said on Twitter, the part of the rules has not changed this summer as long as the player is considered to be in control of it, it can be brought into the penalty area for years. The changed part is the addition of the following language: "When the puck completely crosses the lead line, the player is on the edge of the blue line when any of his skates touches the blue line or on the side of his own line.
